Clinic: Overview of Health Services for Students

There is a school nurse available during school hours. The clinic is located within the main office. The clinic, staffed by a registered nurse, provides health screenings, health assessment and care, and first aid for school-related illnesses and injuries. Short-term medications are discouraged.

If a student is required to take prescription or nonprescription medication during school hours, the following guidelines must be followed:

  • A written order from the physician/dentist, stating student's name, medication, time, duration, and dosage to be given by the school is required, along with the parent/ guardian signature.

  • Medication must be in a currently-December 4, 2007o carry medicine in school. All medication to be administered, as ordered, is to be taken to the school office/clinic by the parent/guardian. Over the counter medications are not permitted to be used unless the guidelines for prescription medications are followed. All medication must be taken to the clinic and it must be administered there. In summary, prescription and nonprescription medication, including Tylenol, etc. must be left with the school nurse. The school, to include staff members, does not provide any medication (Tylenol, etc.) for students. Contact the school nurse for further help, questions, or concerns.
